LOS ANGELES, Calif. Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell is pleased to announce that Los Angeles County’s Earvin “Magic” Johnson Park, located in the unincorporated Willowbrook community of South Los Angeles, has been selected by the Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Host Committee as an official Los Angeles World Cup 26 Fan Zone—joining a regionwide celebration of the FIFA World Cup 2026™.

 

The Los Angeles World Cup 26 Fan Zones will extend the reach of live match viewing and interactive experiences across the greater Los Angeles region— bringing the excitement of the tournament closer to residents and visitors alike. Throughout the 39-day competition, the Los Angeles World Cup 26 Fan Zones will transform select destinations into premier watch events for some of the world’s biggest matches.

 

“Soccer is integral to the fabric of South Los Angeles. I’m thrilled to be partnering with the Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Host Committee to bring the World Cup to our Willowbrook community at one of LA County’s most spectacular public spaces, the Earvin “Magic” Johnson Park, said Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell. “LA County’s Official Fan Zone in LA County’s Second District will bring the most watched sporting event in the world to South Los Angeles to ensure all community members and visitors have free access to the magic of the World Cup. LA County’s Fan Zone in Willowbrook will celebrate our diverse and vibrant local community, showcasing small business and vendors, artists and creatives, and community organizations for both residents and visitors from around the world.”

 

“The Los Angeles World Cup 26 Fan Zones are about bringing the World Cup into the heart of our communities,” said Kathryn Schloessman, President & CEO of the Los Angeles Sports & Entertainment Commission and CEO of the Los Angeles World Cup 2026 Host Committee. “These locations will play an important role in welcoming fans, creating shared moments, and ensuring that the excitement of FIFA World Cup 2026™ is felt across Los Angeles County.”

 

As an Official Fan Zone, for games held on Saturday July 4 and Sunday July 5, LA County’s Earvin “Magic” Johnson Park will offer residents the opportunity to come together and experience the energy, passion, and global spirit of the FIFA World Cup 2026™ through free live match viewings and fan-focused programming during Fourth of July weekend.

 

“Parks are where communities come together, and Earvin ‘Magic’ Johnson park is a powerful example of that,” said Norma Edith García-González, Director of Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation. “Being selected as an Official Los Angeles World Cup 26 Fan Zone reflects the park’s importance as a gathering place for Willowbrook and surrounding communities. We’re proud to open our park as a welcoming, inclusive space where the community and visitors can share in a global event and experience the joy, culture, and connection that sports can inspire.”

 

The Los Angeles World Cup 26 Fan Zones are part of the Host Committee’s broader effort to deliver a world-class tournament experience while creating inclusive, accessible opportunities for fans to celebrate together throughout the region.

– Venice Beach – July 11

– Fairplex – July 14-15 & July 18-19

– West Harbor – July 14-15 & July 18-1

The Earvin “Magic” Johnson Park is one of 184 parks owned and managed by the Los Angeles County Department of Parks and Recreation and is located in the unincorporated Willowbrook community in South Los Angeles, represented by Los Angeles County Supervisor Holly J.
