Today, on Denim Day, we reaffirm our unwavering su Today, on Denim Day, we reaffirm our unwavering support for survivors of sexual assault and our shared responsibility to end rape culture and sexual violence.

Denim Day began after a 1998 ruling by the Italian Supreme Court overturned a rape conviction, claiming that because the 18-year-old survivor was wearing jeans, she must have helped remove them—implying consent. In response to this deeply harmful decision, millions of people around the world on the last Wednesday in April wear denim during Sexual Assault Awareness Month to show solidarity with survivors, challenge victim-blaming, and commit to raising awareness and ending all forms of sexual violence.

There is no excuse and never an invitation for rape.
