Second District Funding Request
The Office of Supervisor Holly J. Mitchell is able to provide discretionary funding to a limited number of selected organizations in the Second District of the County of Los Angeles. All funding requests must be submitted using the form below so that we can begin our review and approval process.
Please note that your funding request must meet the social needs of the population of Los Angeles County, including but not limited to the areas of health, public safety, rehabilitation, well-being, education, and legal services, and to assist in the needs of the physically, mentally and financially challenged persons and aged persons pursuant to California Government Code 26227. Prioritization will be given to organizations based in the Second Supervisorial District. Requests must focus on serving the residents of the Second Supervisorial District. We prioritize funding requests for direct programs or services. We are unable to provide support for general fundraising donation requests. Our office is not able to directly provide County equipment for events, but you may submit a funding request to support your organization’s costs for renting equipment for events.
Holiday Events Funding Request
Although we are currently not accepting general funding requests, we are opening up a special funding opportunity for food, toy, and household essential distribution events during the November and December holidays.
This application will be open until 5pm on December 4, 2024. Please note, we are now only accepting applications for holiday distribution events taking place in December, to allow adequate time for review. Requests for November distribution events will not be eligible for funding from this point on.
To submit a funding request that is directly related to an upcoming holiday distribution event, please use the link below. Holiday distribution events include but are not limited to: food, toys, toiletries, and other home necessities. Holiday distribution events must directly benefit underserved Second District residents. Funding for holiday distribution events cannot exceed $2,000 per event. We will not be able to consider any requests submitted via the below application that does not directly relate to a holiday distribution event taking place in the Second District.
Our July 12, 2024 funding request deadline is now past. Our office will review the Funding Requests received by that deadline. At this time, we are not accepting any new Funding Requests. If you have an urgent request, please email 2DS-FundingRequest@bos.lacounty.gov.
You may be contacted by a member of our review team if they need more information about your request. If you do not respond to our office’s inquiries regarding your request, then your funding request may be delayed or rejected. If your request is approved, it takes an additional 4-8 weeks after approval to complete the paperwork and County approval process before funding can be issued by the County.
We are unable to approve all of the funding requests that we receive.
Submitting a request does not guarantee approval of your funding request.

The purpose of this social program funding is to support and develop services that support the diverse needs of the residents of the Second District. The goal is that funding will improve the quality of life for our residents. Our office strives to provide these funds through an equity lens, focusing funds on services that support our most underrepresented and underserved communities.
To apply for funding, please begin by completing the application above. Once completed, you will receive an email acknowledging receipt along with additional information regarding the funding process.
Once the next quarterly deadline is passed, our funding request Review Team will begin the review process.

Funding must serve a social need and cannot be used towards political, religious, or private purposes.
There are many factors that are considered during the review process, including but not limited to:
- Amount of funding requested (larger funding requests require greater justification and social benefit).
- Potential positive impact on Second District residents.
- Specific population that will be served using the funding.
- Benefits of providing one-time funding for the project (and demonstrated understanding that this is not ongoing funding).
- Organization’s history of serving residents of the Second District.
Our office reviews funding requests on a quarterly basis.
Once a quarterly deadline passes, it will take about 2 months for our internal review process. This process can be delayed if there are additional questions from the funding request review team. It is important that you are responsive and prompt in the case that Second District staff reaches out for further information.
